Top 10 Weight Loss Tips

Weight loss is probably the single biggest reason people start to exercise. Try these ten tips to blast that fat.

Don’t concentrate on losing weight

Concentrate on eating healthily and exercising rather than obsessing about weight loss.

Eat more often

Smaller meals eaten more regularly will keep your metabolism high and will help you to burn more fat.

Eat fewer calories

This is an obvious point but worth stressing. You CANNOT lose weight unless you create a calorie deficit. That is burning more calories than you consume.

Eat more protein

The ideal fat burning menu contains a large portion of protein.

Top 10 Health Tips

As it’s New Year’s Eve I thought it would be a good time to post these tips…most people make resolutions based around this subject!

Good health is essential to your quality of life and longevity, so try these ten tips for a healthier life.

Stop Smoking

Smoking has no benefits to you at all, so why do it?

Reduce Stress

Stress is one of the major killers in the western world, learn to meditate and relax, your body will love you for it.

Drink plenty of water

Water can help you loose weight and will help detoxify you.

Fat March USA

I just finished watching “Fat March USA”, a six part show on Channel 4.

12 Very obese Americans walking from Boston to Washington DC, 575 miles. Only 6 finished, but the show was very inspiring to watch…literally watching these 12 whinging fatties get slimmer before your eyes..most lost around 50 lbs, some as much as 80lbs, and they all were transformed in their attitude and looks.

They walked on average about 10-15 miles per day, but one day did a full marathon distance, 26.2 miles, but two of them walked another 7 on top of that to catch up with the group.

Build a free music collection

A couple of posts ago I was talking about sourcing cheap CDs online, using Amazon or Ebay. The plan being, to rip the contents onto your ipod or mp3 player (for personal use of course, I’m not advocating piracy here).

An even more cost effective route would be utilise the facilities provided by your local council, and join the library. Most libraries these days have a large range of CDs available for lending out, for a small nominal fee.

More thrifty tips

Continuing on from the last post, here are three more thrifty tips, this time related to food.

  1. Take a list when food shopping and stick to it. Avoid impulsive purchases when pushing the trolley around. It is also helpful to avoid shopping on an empty stomach due to the likelyhood of you ending up with more items than you really need.

  2. Switch to own label products. It pays to do a little testing in this area too…some own brand items are great and dirt cheap, others are pretty horrible. Work out over a period of time which ones are worth buyng. Items like cleaning products can be much cheaper with no real difference in quality, whereas some food  products can be totally different.

Is thrift the new black?

Our parents and grandparents had loads of sayings, like “A penny saved is a penny earned” or “If the wind changes you’ll stay like that”.

They also had a lot less debt (sorry, credit) as the older generation tended to save up for things, rather than whip out the VISA.

So the concept of saving up for something you want is pretty much out of fashion, or has been until the recent meltdown in the (sorry, debt) industry. However, thrift as a state of mind is worth persuing as saving money really is the same as earning more, whether you use it for life’s luxuries or to pay off already accumulated debt.
